BULGARO UZBEK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bulgarian-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce was founded by 16 representatives of companies showing interest in and carrying out activities in partnership with business representatives in the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 12, 2022 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

BUTK is managed by a General Assembly, a 7-member Management Board and a 5-member Control Board. The Chairman of the Chamber is Mr. Veselin Halachev.

The Bulgarian-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce is an association – a non-profit legal entity, established in accordance with the Law on Non-Profit Legal Entities and the present statute.

The mission of the Chamber is:
to contribute to the creation of a socio-economic, educational, cultural and sports bridge between Europe and Central Asia through the axis Republic of Bulgaria – Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main goals of BUTK are:
• Promotion and support of commercial and economic relations between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan in the interest of both republics.
• Supporting and promoting the national production of Bulgaria and Uzbekistan and its realization on the markets of both countries, as well as on international markets.
• Development and participation in joint projects in the fields of economy, innovation, ecology, energy, healthcare, education, tourism, culture, sports, transport, labor and social policy.
• Encouraging the implementation of innovative technologies, digitization, green solutions. Providing access and exchange of information and know-how.
• Exchange of qualified and unqualified personnel.

The Bulgarian-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce was entered in the Commercial Register of the Republic of Bulgaria on April 11, 2023 with EIK 207340961.
BUTK activity:
Immediately after its establishment, BUTK began to work extremely actively in partnership with the Association for the support of small and medium-sized businesses – United Business Clubs (UBC). Through its chairman, Mr. Veselin Halachev, who is also the chairman of OBC, a number of important memorandums and cooperation agreements were signed with:

Ministry of Tourism and Cultural heritage;
Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation (Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation);
The Investment Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade;

“Furthermore, contracts were signed with many companies – structural, large, medium, small and micro, working in the fields of construction; the ecology; RES; metalworking; chemical industry; Agriculture; the food industry; viticulture and winemaking; distributors, wholesalers, retailers, etc.

 

The chairman of BUTK and OBC – Mr. Veselin Halachev, was personally invited by the Minister of Labor and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Mr.????? to participate as a speaker in two international forums related to labor migration, and in 2023 he was also presented with a special award.

 

In June 2023, Mr. Veselin Halachev was invited by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Achilbay Ramatov, to take part as a speaker in the International Forum related to the transport industry.

 

In order to support the development of Uzbek business in the field of international trade, implementation of innovations, RES, circular economy, competitiveness, etc., Mr. Halachev held special meetings and talks with representatives of the European Commission during the annual Assembly of small and medium-sized enterprises enterprise held in November 2023 in the Spanish city of Bilbao, under the auspices of the European Commission.

About possible partnerships between businesses in Europe and the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Halachev tells and insists to our European partners, in his capacity as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Alliance of Small and Medium Businesses, in Brussels and as a member of the Advisory Board of The Southeast European Cooperation Initiative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna. (In this council, members and partners are the European Commission, the European Parliament, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, etc.)
BUTK and OBC regularly organize joint delegations of business representatives in Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Romania, North Macedonia to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The programs of the delegations include meetings at a high governmental and business level, as well as visits to interesting cultural and historical places in Uzbekistan.
Since 2022, 13 such visits have been carried out so far.

Many of these delegations are related to the international exhibitions held in Tashkent, and by the end of this year at least 6 more such delegations are planned.

This year, the Bulgarian-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce will actively participate as a co-organizer of the International Business Forum “European Balkans – Central Asia”. More than 600 business representatives are expected to participate in the event, and official guests and speakers will be high-ranking representatives of Europe, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, the Balkan countries and Central Asian countries.
